The Challenges Confronted in Ore Dressing Process

The automatic control is aimed at stabilizing production process and maintaining optimum operating condition. Different control systems can be adopted according to concrete situations. Some crushing systems realize centralized interlocking control by adopting programmable controller. The first stage milling and grading circuit adopts automatic control by way of computerized distributed control system. The automatic detection and adjustment cover definite value ore feeding, proportional water supply, fixed value ore slurry concentration adjustment and pump ore level.

The flotation process is controlled by X fluorescence load flow analyzer, automatic ore pulp PH value adjustment, automatic medicine addition, ore level control and air inflation. At present, countries abroad adopt large-scale distributed control system ranging from detection instrumentation to process control. The relative advantages of automatic control compared with those of manual control are higher processing capacity, a 25%-50% labor productivity rise, low cost and high recycle rate. However, we have proven reserves of 53.1 billion tons and potential reserves of 50.1 billion more with industrial reserves accounting for 24.5 billion tons. A large proportion of ore coexists and associates with each other. The lean ore occupies a considerable proportion of 97%. Our nation is rich in iron ore resource. Since rich ore is little, the average geological grade is only 32.6%, lower than the average world level with n percent. Consequently, almost all ores need dressing and enrichment. Moreover, due to the reason that 50% of lean ore is weak magnetic ore, austere challenges are posed to ore dressing work.

The overseas countries such as Brazil, Australia, South Africa and India have large reserves of iron ore, among which red ore occupies about 65% with low deleterious impurity content. Generally, the iron ore can be crushed and graded without being dressed. Some may go through the process of simple ore washing, redressing or high intensity magnetic separation. The concentrate grade and recycle rate can be very high.
