How Many Types of Ore Feeders for Ball Mill Are There?

In metal ore dressing plants there are three types of ore feeders commonly used to feed ball mill machine: drum feeder machine, screw feeder machine, and combined feeder machine.

Drum feeder machine looks like a round drum open at two ends. Inside the cylinder there is a spiral ore-sending apparatus. When the feeder machine rotates along with the ball mill, ores will be fed into ball mill along the spiral line. Drum feeder is suitable to feed dry materials, so it’s more often used when the ball mill is conducting the open-circuit ore grinding operation.

Spiral feeder machine can also be called spoon feeder, because its appearance is a spiral spoon. At the end of the spiral, there is equipped with replaceable scoop mouth. In the center of the feeder’s flank, there is a hole interlinked with the hollow shaft at the feeding end of ball mill machine, from where ores enter into the ball mill machine. Spiral feeder machine can be divided into three kinds: single-scoop, double-scoop and three-scoop. Spiral feeder machine applies to wet feeding, usually used in the closed-circuit grinding cycle of ball mill machine and classifier, namely only when dealing with the sand returned by the classifier, can ball mill machine be equipped with this kind of feeder.

Combined feeder machine is joint by drum feeder machine and spiral feeder machine together. It is capable of feeding both dry and wet materials, for example, the sand return of the classifier, and commonly used in the first stage of the closed-circuit grinding. In addition, due to the combined feeder machine is convenient to refill steel balls into the ball mill machine, so it also involved in the second stage of grinding. Relatively speaking, the combined feeder machine has a wider application range.
